Why Can Cat Dangerous?

In regard to paint, there are some names that are often mentioned. And those are VOC, lead and mercury-. What exactly are they and why is it used by the paint?

Paint as a material that serves as a coating, is made from materials which are dangerous if used exceeds the threshold value is allowed. One of the hazardous materials is VOC (volatile organic compound) or the content of volatile organic compounds. Solvent and thinner are the example of VOC. VOC is marked by the smell.

Why Use Solvent?
Since the creation in the factory, the paint has been using solvent or solvents. Solvent plays a role in the formation of a good movie. Solvent used as a paint mixer because with the right dose can make the paint has a viscosity which is also fitted. This makes the paint to be easily mixed, easy to apply and quick drying.

However, solvents are not environmentally friendly and also not friendly to human health. Polymerization (one of the stages in the manufacture of paint) that uses the latest technology allows the paint manufacturing process does not require solvent again.

Content of solvent contained in the paint will evaporate after the paint is applied. After the solvent evaporates, the paint will dry and form a layer at the top of the objects. Because of that paint that was applied to the walls and dried, in fact no longer contain the solvent.

But the gas or vapor generated will require time to actually disappear from the air in a freshly painted room. Spreading solvent vapor in the air can contaminate the environment and cause health problems if inhaled excessively.

Solvent effects can be felt in an instant when we entered the room containing the gas due to evaporation of solvent. In an instant, this material can cause minor health problems such as spicy eyes, skin irritation, respiratory disorder, or allergies. Meanwhile, when it sucked, in the long term these materials can cause cancer, liver damage, and nervous system disorders.

Lead and Mercury
In addition to VOC, other hazardous materials contained in the paint was lead and mercury. Lead and Mercury are often used in a mixture of lead paint to produce bright colors.

Lead is contained in the pigment, which is a material to give color to the paint. Yellow and orange paint has a higher lead content than other colors. Usually the addition of lead is applicable to oil paint.

Like lead, mercury is a heavy metal that is in the womb of paint. Inside the paint, one of which mercury is used in a mixture of anti-fungal. When the VOC vapor dangerous when inhaled, mercury and lead will give a bad effect when entered into the bodies. This can happen if you or your child touch the wall, pressed powder in your hand and then you hold the food without washing hands first.

Lead can cause disturbances among the nervous system and reproductive organs. In the body of children, lead is more than threshold will affect the level of intelligence and behavior. Mercury can cause interference with the nervous system, brain and kidney. VOC, lead and mercury in addition to damaging our body also damage the environment.
